Today was an opportunity to check off another "to-do" from my "Wish List of Places to Visit" as I spent the day in New York City. My day began with a train ride from New Jersey to Penn Station--not realizing I was at Madison Square Garden when I surfaced from the subway! Pretty cool. I walked from 31st Street north to 42nd Street to purchase a CitySights bus ticket at Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum. Then I hopped on top of the open-air, double-decker bus to take in the sights of New York City. I saw the Empire State building, Macy's, Ground Zero, Wall Street, Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, the Statue of Liberty, United Nations Building, Trump International and Rockefeller Plaza.
Once the downtown tour was done, I changed to another bus for the uptown tour through Central Park and Harlam. I got off at the Plaza Hotel to go inside and see everyone dressed up for Tea at the Plaza. I also checked out the Ed Sullivan Theatre, where the Late Show with David Letterman is filmed--and of course, the Hello Deli, next door! I feel like I saw two days worth of stuff--crammed into one afternoon!
I had a quick dinner at the Olive Garden in Times Square, before walking a few blocks to the New Amsterdam Theatre on 42nd Street to see Mary Poppins at 8 p.m. What a thrill is was to see a Broadway show as well! After the show, I walked back to the Penn Station and took the train back to New Jersey. What a day it was!
Tomorrow I'm off to Rochester, NY for the Senior PGA Championship. Happy Birthday to Brooke, who turned 15 today!
